The Douglass Family

As almost everyone these days, our family is busy. We're either going somewhere, coming back from somewhere, or doing something somewhere. But when we do have time, here's what we enjoy:

Pets

Along with our piggy, Oreo, we have two dogs.

Rinny is a golden retriever/German sheperd mix. He's big, smart, and gentle. He also has epilepsy, which has given us some rough times in the past. He is currently on medication that seems to be working well. He's an outside dog and enjoys running around the fields and checking out the smells. His favorite games with us are tug-of-war and keep-away (he has the ball and keeps it away from us). His secret ambition is to be a lap dog.

Shiner is our watchdog. She is a small terrier mix we inherited from a relative. She barks at absolutely everything. Caleb likes to get her barking by knocking on the walls or ringing the doorbell. She may not be very smart, but she is very sweet and loves to cuddle. Her secret ambition is to be a Doberman.

Old cars/tractors

We like old cars. We're talking about OLD cars, especially cars made in the 50s, 60s, and 70's--the cars with personalities! We enjoy going to car shows too. We currently have a turquoise 63 Ford Falcon Ventura 4-door and 3 AMC/Rambler Marlins--one '66 and two '65s. Unfortunately we wrecked one of the '65s. We now plan to use it as a parts car. Don't know what a Marlin is? It's a car in a category all by itself. Check it out!

We also have 3 old tractors that belonged to a family member. We aren't farmers, so we use them for tractor rides and landscaping.

Church activities

Our Christian faith plays a very important role in our lives. In spite of the normal activities of a busy family (or maybe because of it), we still find time to be involved in our local church. Selena sings in the choir, and we both help teach preschool children once a month and are actively involved in our Sunday School class. Selena also desktop publishes the class newsletter weekly.

Astronomy

We are dedicated Star Trek/Star Wars fans. Since we can't go "where no man has gone before," we decided to bring the universe to us by purchasing a telescope. Then we took a class to learn what we were seeing through the telescope. I never knew there was so much stuff out there to look at. We're still learning and probably always will be.

We are University of Illinois Fighting Illini basketball and football fans. The Illini are in the Big 10. For more information, see Illini On-line.
