Scanning Pictures
or Slides in Room 10
1) Make sure the scanners are connected.

2) Make sure the scanners are turned on.

To scan slides:
1) Insert slide (image forward) into top slot of slide scanner.
2)Open up Adobe Photoshop (located on "The Globe").
3)Under File, select Acquire.
4) Select ScanMaker Plug-in 2.06.

You should see a window like this:

5) Prescan the image. (NOTE: A slide scanner scans in the red, blue and green hues separately. It will take some time to scan the image. You can short that time by selecting Gray-Scale prescan.)
6)Use the selection marquee to select the portion of the slide you want scanned.
7) Press the scan button & wait!
NOTE: Once the image is scanned, it will be opened up in Adobe Photoshop. IMMEDIATELY, save the image. You can save as a .pict, .jpeg, .bmp (for Windows). IF you are using this image for the Internet, you must save it as either a .jpeg or a .gif. To save as a .gif image:
1)you must select MODE from the main menu.
2) Choose Index Color and in the Other box: type 256.
3) Make sure the Palatte is Adaptive and Dither is Diffusion.
You may now save the image as a CompuServe Gif. NOTE: a .jpeg image
is a larger file than a .gif image - i.e. a 353K jpeg will be 118K gif.
To scan a picture or object:
1) Place picture or object on glass of scanner.
(NOTE: when scanning an object that might scratch the glass, place a
very light colored cloth - like a white hand kerchief - over the glass.)
2) Open Adobe Photoshop (located on "The Globe").
3) Under file, select Acquire.
4)Choose Scantastic Epson 4.1.6.

5) A window like this should appear:

6) Press the Prescan button & wait (this doesn't take as long as the slide prescan!)
7) Use the Selection marquee to select the portion of the image you want scan.
8) Press the Scan button.
